November 25, 2019

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE

Subject: DEWALT DW0165, DW0165s and DW0330s laser distance measurers may operate at a higher power level than their markings indicate.

Dear Customer:

In cooperation with the U.S. FDA (Food and Drug Administration), DEWALT is reclassifying DEWALT DW0165, DW0165s and DW0330s laser distance measurers from Class 2 to Class 3R. Laser power may exceed Class 2 requirements per IEC 60825-1: 2014. DEWALT is issuing re-labeling kits for the affected devices to properly instruct the user and to properly label it.

Our records indicate you may have one of these products. Only the models listed above that are labeled as Class 2 and have date codes between Week 19 of 2018 and Week 43 of 2019 are affected. Check to see if your product is affected by verifying the label on the back of the product and the date code inside the battery compartment of the unit, as shown below.

Two close-up images of DEWALT laser distance measure tools are shown. The left image highlights the 'Laser Class' label and indicates relabeling is required for devices manufactured between Week 19 of 2018 and Week 35 of 2019. The right image displays manufacturer location and date, stating no relabeling is needed for devices made before Week 19 of 2018 or after Week 35 of 2019.

If you have an affected product, stop using it immediately and either call the DEWALT helpline toll-free at (800) 847-9466 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, e-mail recall@sbdinc.com, or visit https://www.dewalt.com/support/safety-notices-and-recalls for information on obtaining a relabeling kit.

We regret any inconvenience this situation may cause and thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
